There is a very close relationship between poetry and spirituality and this retreat will explore links between prayer and poetry and what it means to be in relationship with God. While at St Beuno’s Gerard Manley Hopkins prayed, studied, and wrote some of his best poetry. In this retreat we will read, recite, discuss, and pray with poetry written by Hopkins and other poets to facilitate a deeper sense of God working in our lives.
This retreat will comprise of two inputs each day which will give the opportunity to consider, discuss and reflect on different poems. There will also be time to rest, walk and pray and the retreat will include times of silence and also times of spiritual conversation within the group.
‘I do not think I have ever seen anything more beautiful than the blue bell I have been looking at. I know the beauty of Our Lord by it’.
