Whether this is new to you or familiar, come and join!
This retreat, led by Romola Parish, will begin each day with a prayerful focus on images created by Romola. Through deepening into this prayer, you will be helped to listen to responses stirring in you and finding God in that. Romola will then gently help each person find a way of expressing this response creatively in whatever medium beckons. This might be through stitching, paints, sketching, arranging words on a page, poetry, collage, photography, air drying clay or something else.
If you have never tried anything like this it might be for you! All you need to bring is the openness to have a go!
The retreat will have time for reflection together as well as silence and time to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
Some materials will be provided but we warmly welcome you to bring materials you particularly like to use.
You might also bring things that could be shared such as scraps of fabric, magazines and other collage material, thread, wool or something else.
Dr Romola Parish is a textile artist. She is also a poet. Poetry and embroidery are her languages of faith, through which she engages with her own faith and encourages others to engage in new ways with theirs. She volunteered as a creative facilitator for the Creative Arts Retreat Movement for a number of years, and leads retreats and quiet days in prayer, contemplation and the creative arts.
Her beautiful collection of embroideries, Crying in the Silicon Wilderness, have been exhibited most recently at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford and will form a central part of this retreat. Ramola delights in helping others deepen their faith in their own, unique and creative way.
